My name is Dr. Mackie Sheckfee. I am a doctor of physical therapy by profession and humble servant and follower of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Life has been a long, hard and difficult road! But in the words of the 23rd Psalm, verse 4, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
I was born into a family where my mother is a practicing Buddhist and my father is a semi-practicing Roman Catholic. So that upbringing left me spiritually…confused. Fortunately by God’s good grace, He called me out by name and I was saved in 2004 to share eternal life with Him.
I am an Elder and a member of a Baptist church. I have served as a Deacon and Bible study teacher for youths, teens, young professionals and adults in the past at various churches. I bring my life experiences into my teachings and preachings to non-believers. I have endured heartbreak, failed marriages, the pain of being a “part-time Dad” to children in another state, bankruptcy, unemployment, a collapsed business, the challenge of changing careers, spiritual wandering, and the struggles of balancing work, school and family. But then again, I have also been so blessed to experience early achievement, success, love, blessings from God, guidance from the Holy Spirit and the overwhelming feeling of God’s presence. Through it all, God has blessed me with the love of my wife, children, family, close friends and the love of my heavenly Father.
My purpose for creating this blog is to present my thoughts and understandings about biblical principles to help us get through everyday life. The #1 comment I get about people who have tried to read the Bible, is “I’ve tried to read the Bible and it doesn’t make any sense.” I had many of the same sentiments and opinions until I began my own journey with the Lord and studying God’s word. After many hours of asking questions, reading and attending bible study, I have been able to formulate some simple and organized thoughts that are easy to understand and apply to your life. I did not start this blog, because I thought I was a wonderful and gifted writer. So please excuse my errors in grammar and structure. Writing composition was never my best subject!
Most of the biblical quotes used in my blogs are from the New Living Translation (NLT) version of the bible, unless otherwise stated. Although I am partial to the King James version in my bible verse memorization, since it is the closest translation to the original scripts, but for the purpose of this blog, I have found that the NLT version is easier for today’s comprehension.
So I hope you find my blog posts helpful and spiritually enlightening. I hope if you are not saved, my posts will help open your eyes to Christ, our Lord. And if you are saved, “Praise the Lord for my fellow Brother or Sister in Christ!” I hope that my posts will bless you in some way!
In His Light,
