Dealing With Pain and Suffering: Why Does God Let Bad Things Happen To Good People?

Stop looking inward and start looking upward!

God blesses the people who patiently endure testing.  Afterward, they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.  (James 1:12)

Being a Doctor of Physical Therapy, I treat a lot of patients, both young and old, who have been living with chronic pain and permanent disabilities on a regular basis.  And with great suffering often follows questions like:  Why me?  Why do I have to suffer?  What did I do to deserve all of this pain?  If there is a God, why would He let this happen to me? How To Pray: The first step towards building a relationship with God

"You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it." (Matthew 21:22)

“When they call on me, I will answer;

I will be with them in trouble.

I will rescue and honor them.”

(Psalm 91:15)

When you were a child, did your parents, Sunday school teacher, or someone else ever teach you to pray before bed?  You know the prayer… “Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep; If I die before I wake, I ask the Lord my soul to take.”

Many children learn this as one of their first prayers, or some other short prayer that Continue reading

Anger: Why Do I Get So Angry And What Does God Think?

“My dear brothers and sisters,

be quick to listen, slow to speak,

and slow to get angry.  Your anger can

never make things right in God’s sight.

(James 1:19-20)

Anger is NEVER pretty!

Why do some people get so angry?  What is anger?  Anger is really an emotional reaction to pride.  The offense of selfish pride is truly the root of anger.  In other words, anger is saying, “I am right, and you are wrong!  How dare you offend me!”  or “How dare you treat me like that or keep me waiting?  Do you know who I am?”  Even if you were the victim of a horrible act, like sexual, emotional and/or physical abuse, Continue reading

What Is Life As A Christian Like?

I often get the question about what it feels like to be saved (See blog entry, “What is the path to God?“).  Simply, it’s not always easy.  In fact, I feel that life as a non-believer was remarkably easier!  Now, I didn’t say better.  I said it was just easier.  So Continue reading

Worry: God Doesn’t Want Us To Worry

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation,

by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your

requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends

all understanding, will guard your hearts and

your minds in Christ Jesus.

Phillipians 4:6-7

Why do humans worry?  I believe that it is because, innately, we know our limitations.  We know that, in life, we are in control of nothing!  And yet, as humans, we want to control everything!  We impose our will to try to make things happen.  We want EVERYTHING to go our way.   However, if it doesn’t, we get upset.  And if the issue we are unable to control pertains to something of value or importance to the individual, like money, health, or love, then we begin to worry.

However, there is an answer… put your trust and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ!  If you Continue reading
