Pride: The Bearer Of Sour Fruit

"What? Me? Prideful? Never!"

Pride is a funny word.  It has both a positive and negative meaning.  On one hand, pride is a good thing, like taking pride in your work, self-respect, or taking delight in something, such as your children.  But then on the other hand, pride can mean conceitedness, or an over-exaggerated display of self-worth.  Leave it to humans to take something good and turn it into something bad with our sinful, self-glorifying nature! Forgiveness: Loving the Unlovely

Forgiveness is not only a gift to others. It is a gift to ourselves so that we can heal and move on.

“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged.

Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you.

Forgive others, and you will be forgiven.”  (Luke 6:37)

If someone hit your car and it was clearly their fault, is it easier to forgive the person who is gravely apologetic and truly concerned if you are injured, or the person who gets in your face yelling and screaming with insults and profanity?  The answer is obvious.  However, God wants us to forgive both.  I know…“Easier said than done!” Continue reading

When Godly People Act Ungodly: Explaining The Hypocrisy In Christianity

What are YOU lookin' at?!!!

Before I saw the light and became saved (See my other post, “What Is The Path To God?”), I witnessed a lot of hypocrisy in religion.  There were people who claimed to be Christian that committed adultery, stole, lied, used bad language, and was prideful, greedy, and lustful, to name a few.  I thought to myself, “What do I want with Christianity or any religion, for that matter, if this is what it produces?!!” Continue reading

How Do You Know If You Are Saved?

Jesus is our only bridge to God.

Recently, I was asked, “How do you know if you are saved?”, by a patient of mine who is a believer.  And the question provoked a lot of thought.  I have been saved since 2004 and after a year or so from accepting Jesus as my Lord and Savior, I too questioned the same thought.  Continue reading

Dealing With Pain and Suffering: Why Does God Let Bad Things Happen To Good People?

Stop looking inward and start looking upward!

God blesses the people who patiently endure testing.  Afterward, they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.  (James 1:12)

Being a Doctor of Physical Therapy, I treat a lot of patients, both young and old, who have been living with chronic pain and permanent disabilities on a regular basis.  And with great suffering often follows questions like:  Why me?  Why do I have to suffer?  What did I do to deserve all of this pain?  If there is a God, why would He let this happen to me? How To Pray: The first step towards building a relationship with God

"You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it." (Matthew 21:22)

“When they call on me, I will answer;

I will be with them in trouble.

I will rescue and honor them.”

(Psalm 91:15)

When you were a child, did your parents, Sunday school teacher, or someone else ever teach you to pray before bed?  You know the prayer… “Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep; If I die before I wake, I ask the Lord my soul to take.”

Many children learn this as one of their first prayers, or some other short prayer that Continue reading

Anger: Why Do I Get So Angry And What Does God Think?

“My dear brothers and sisters,

be quick to listen, slow to speak,

and slow to get angry.  Your anger can

never make things right in God’s sight.

(James 1:19-20)

Anger is NEVER pretty!

Why do some people get so angry?  What is anger?  Anger is really an emotional reaction to pride.  The offense of selfish pride is truly the root of anger.  In other words, anger is saying, “I am right, and you are wrong!  How dare you offend me!”  or “How dare you treat me like that or keep me waiting?  Do you know who I am?”  Even if you were the victim of a horrible act, like sexual, emotional and/or physical abuse, Continue reading
